The Argory
The Argory was built in the 1820's on a hill and has wonderful views over the gardens and 320 acre wooded riverside estate. Located in the Rose garden beside the house is a horizontal octagonal brass sundail which dates from AD 1820. This former home of the McGeough-Bond family has a splendid stable yard with horse carriages, harness room, acetylene gas plant and laundry. Guided tours of the house, available during opening times, reveal a cluttered interior which evoke the Bond family's Edwardian taste and interests. Following a relaxing walk around the estate, visitors can enjoy some home made produce in the cosy tea room and browse around the National Trust shop.
