 Mount Stewart House & Gardens
Fascinating
eighteenth-century house with nineteenth-century additions, home of Lord
Castlereagh; one of the greatest gardens in these islands, largely created
by the wife of the seventh Marquis of Londonderry, with an unrivalled
collection of rare and unusual plants, colourful parterres and magnificent
formal and informal vistas. The Temple
of the Winds, James 'Athenian' Stuart's banqueting hall of 1785, overlooks
Strangford Lough. Visitors can relax in the Bay Restaurant and enjoy
culinary delights made from quality ingredients and excellent local
produce.
