Summer is just about to start, the gardens are growing greener, temperatures are rising, and the nights are getting brighter. Indeed these are all the signs indicating Mount Stewart’s first gardening treat of the season!
It’s that time of year when you can join to discover the beauty of this glorious garden. You have the chance to indulge in one of nature’s most spectacular displays on Friday 9 May at 7pm.
This fascinating guided walk will be exploring different areas of the garden, delving into the significance of plants that are found on the roof of the world, and how famous plant hunters have played a pivotal role in Mount Stewart’s gardening experience.
Right now the colour of the season is the cool Himalayan blue, which is no better symbolised than by the Blue Tibetan Poppy. You can discover how Frank Kingdon- Ward played an instrumental role in introducing this plant, as well as many other famous varities into widespread population!
The focus will not only cover the Tibetan theme, but will touch on well known plant life such as the primula, and in particular, the rhododenderon.
Indeed, what more could you ask for? The night of discovery starts in the garden and continues with an exploration of the palate, as The Bay Restaurant lays on an Eastern themed menu.
Booking is essential, please call the Mount Stewart team on 028 4278 8387 to book or to find out more about this event. Costs are £17.50 per adult. This is the first in a series of themed Walks and Talks, with others taking place on 11 June, 7August, 26 October, and 7 December- so make a note in your diary.
