The National Trust’s Crom Demesne is the scenic venue, this Bank Holiday weekend, for another opportunity to discover some of the estates most beautiful historic landscape and to explore Lough Erne in a traditional ‘cot’
On Monday 5 May regular ‘cot trips’ will depart from the visitor centre from 2pm to 6pm (weather permitting). Explore the intricate mosaic of sheltered channels, open bays, wooded islands and traditionally farmed peninsulas that make this part of Upper Lough Erne such a special place.
Of the many historic artefacts which remind us of past times at Crom Demesne, the traditional Lough Erne cot is perhaps the most remarkable one. Cut and shaped from Crom oak more than a hundred years ago, it is still in use today. National Trust staff will accompany visitors on their trips, pointing out features of interest such as historic buildings and the wide variety of wildlife that occurs around the shores.
The duration of each trip will be approximately 25 minutes, costing £3.50 for adults (including National Trust members ) and £2 for children.
For further information please contact Crom Visitor Centre on 028 6773 8118.
And don’t hurry away take time to stroll around the Visitor Centre, which hosts an excellent exhibition on wildlife and social history in the area. The Little Orchard Tea Room will also be open for afternoon teas and relaxation.
