Avondale House & Forest Park

Avondale House, the birthplace and home of Charles Stewart Parnell (1846 - 1891) one of the greates political leaders of Irish history.

Set in a magnificent forest park of over 500 acres containing a continental garden style Arboretum. The exotic tree walk and river walk are just some of the walks to experience during your visit.

This beautiful Georgian house designed by James Wyatt and buil in 1777 contains fine original plasterwork and furniture belonging to the Parnell Family.

 One mile from the Village of Rathdrum of R752 off N11, R752 for Rathdrum, and L2149 for Avondale.

 17th March - 31st October.

Last admission to House 17:00
House closed Mondays in Mar, Apr, Sept & Octo - except on Bank Holidays - open.

 Adults €6, Seniors/Students €5.50, Family (2A,2C) €17.50. Group rates available.

 The Kitchen Café serves light lunches to tailored menus for groups. Wine/Beer licence. Guided tours of the house. Signposted Walks. Picnic benches. Children's Playarea. Two Orienteering courses. Large car/coach park. Toilets. Limited wheelchair access in some locations.
